Vle Etruria exit from Florence
Domanda
15 gennaio 2015
Sorry I do not speak any Italian, but hope someone can help please. I
have just received a speeding violation report for doing 64KMH (69
recorded) in a 50KMH zone '29/06/2014 IN VLE ETRURIA ALTEZZA 20 M DOPO
L'IMMISSIONE DELLA DIRETTRICE DI VIA CANOVA (USCITA CITTA'). The photo
shows a dual carriage way road not in a built up area. I was always
was careful to stick to the speed limits, so the speed limit may not
have been signed very well. I also used a Tom Tom which would beep if
I was exceeding the speed limit. It is the 3 points on my driving
license that I find unfair. This was 6 months ago so I can't remember
what signs are visible, so it would be difficult for me to appeal. I
think I will pay the fine soon, but do not want the 3 points on my
license.
I would be grateful for any advice please.
Thanks,
James, da York (EE)

the system used to measure the speed in Viale Etruria is not legal, in our opinion. Most judges in Florence agree with us when people contest such violations.
That said, if you pay, you will not be able to contest the report, including the 3 points on your driving licence. The only way to avoid loosing those points is not to tell the police who was driving. But you will receive another fine (about 300 Euros).
